NYX is a brand that isn't really available in Belgium (yet!), so when in London I had to pick up some of their already iconic Soft Matte Lip Creams.

These lip creams come in so many different shades and are all named after different cities. I went for Cannes, Istanbul, Milan and Ibiza!

When you apply the cream it will take around 30 sec to get that perfect matte lip color. As the name says they are matte lipsticks but the formula isn’t drying at all! On the contrary my lips still feel soft after applying the lip cream. For staying time I put them to the test as we had a 5-course meal at ‘The Typing Room’ planned that evening. Guess what? After 5 courses and some glasses of wine, the lipstick was still there. Now that is something not many brands can achieve!

I definitely recommend these lip creams, they are highly pigmented, not drying and have a great staying power. But best of all they aren’t pricy! I payed only £5 a piece in the UK. In my opinion a real bargain.
A small side note: Please make sure to scrub your lips before applying (any) matte lipstick, as this will look that much better on soft/smooth lips.
Great news for my Belgian readers: A NYX store will open in Ghent this June 2016.
If you would like to try NYX you can order them online at: Feelunique, Douglas or Boots.
Have you ever tried any NYX product? I'm really eager to try other NYX cosmetics after this great experience.

Extensions By The Concept

A couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted to change my hairstyle. I have very thin hair that doesn’t grow that easily so what to do? Cut it into a Lob (long bob) ? Or add some volume and length with hair extensions? I decided to try out the hair extensions and made an appointment at The Concept. The lovely Fia made me feel at ease by telling me that she only uses high quality hair from the brand Mayacoba, and that she only works with micro rings. Working with micro rings means that there is no heat needed to secure the extensions to your own hair. This method makes sure that your own hair won’t get damaged. After a horrible experience with wax extensions, this convinced me to opt for extensions again.

When you have extensions you need to take extra care (special shampoo, special brush,...)of your hair, but then again you’ll be happy that you can keep the extensions that much longer. After 6 weeks I have another appointment with Fia to make sure that the extensions stay at the right location, because your own hair keeps on growing after all. I’m so excited about them, I really can’t see my hair without extensions anymore, it will be hard to say goodbye to them (if that is ever necessary).
I must say we are a couple of weeks later now and I only get compliments on my hair. Nobody can tell if it’s real or fake, just the way I wanted it!

Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer SPF 20

As summer is approaching, I wanted a new and lighter base for my makeup. What better time to try new products then on a visit to the beauty department from Selfridges.

My first stop was Armani cosmetics, here I tried the Luminessence CC cream, I loved the texture, there were also multiple colors available, which is a plus, but unfortunately it didn’t work away the redness I’m suffering from on my cheeks (not a lot, but still it’s there). Next stop Dior for their iconic Diorskin BB cream. Only 2 shades available. They started testing it on my skin and it did work away the redness, it was a “medium” coverage, but the color just didn’t suit me. And finally I bumped in to the Laura Mercier counter and fell in love with the award winning tinted moisturizer. It has an spf 20 in it, feels very gentle en soft on the skin, multiple colors available and buildable to medium coverage. (If you like more coverage you can always add a little bit of powder on top.) Very important to me is that it stays all day and it doensn't set in my fine lines. I choose to apply the tinted moisturizer with my beautyblender, but you can also apply it with a Kabuki brush or just your fingers. That's up to you! For girls with an oily skin, there is a non-oil variation of it, so it will suit each skin type.

Laura Mercier’s website says:
Laura created this product to give skin a healthy no-makeup look with a soft hint of colour that evens and enhances without hiding the skin. This award-winning tinted moisturizer can be used in place of foundation for a natural appearance while adding a healthy glow to the complexion. The lightweight formula provides ideal protection from the sun’s harmful, damaging rays with broad spectrum SPF 20 sunscreen.
Perfect for all skin types, including sensitive.

For those interested in the ingredients, here’s the list:
Active Ingredients: Octyl Methoxycinnamate and Menthyl Anthranilate. Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Cetearyl Alcohol (and) PEG-40 Castor Oil, Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cyclomethicone, DEA-Ceryl Phosphate, Hexyl Laurate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Propylparaben. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Mica.

I was matched the color "Porcelain", and I'm a MAC NW15. This tinted moisturizer gives my skin a dewy and healthy glow whilst using only the tiniest amount of product. I love it, it's that perfect helathy summer glow I was looking for.
Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer is a rather high end option, but then again you receive 50 ml of product. Other foundations, BB creams, CC creams, ... often only provide 30 ml.
The tinted moisturizer retails at £34 at Selfridges or €48 at De Bijenkorf.
What do you think of a tinted moisturizer? Have you ever used one?

Recently, thanks to a Newsengine event, I discovered the new DORO 8031 Smartphone.

It’s a Smartphone especially created for the 50+ generation who still wants to have the same gadgets as the younger generations but in a very simple way.

My mom (54 years old) was the first person to try the phone. She has an Iphone at the moment and she actually said that, whenever she’s in need of a new phone, sh would buy a Doro phone instead of an Iphone. Remarkable, isn’t it? I asked her “why?” and she told me that she never had a phone that was this simple to use. You have a large screen that makes it easy to read and type and you can have all the options an Iphone has for a much lower price.

The second one to try the Smartphone, and who became the owner of it is my grandma (76 years old). I must say, she does try to keep up with her grandchildren with all things technology, but she needed a new phone. She took a look at the Doro 8031, and was directly sold! This screen was great, she could really read every message very well. She has her 4 most important contacts on the homepage (no need to look for someone), there is an emergency button if something goes wrong, the “I WANT TO” button makes it super simple in using it and there is a descent camera to take pictures. She’s so proud of her new Smartphone that she’s telling all of her friends about it! Cute right? :-)

Some facts about the DORO 8031 Smartphone:

  • GPS function
  • Can be used by people with hearing problems
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • Easy use thanks to the “I WANT TO” button
  • Google play store access (so you can have all the apps like a normal smartphone)
  • 4G
  • Assistance button

If you are interested you can find out more here.
The Doro 8031 retails at €189 and is available at Fnac, Selexion & Mediamarkt. Not that expensive for a smartphone, right? When I first saw it, it would have been around the €400 price, so this really surprised me!

What do you think about the Doro 8031 Smartphone? Isn’t this the perfect gift for upcoming Mothers day?
 XO S.
