2016 Wishlist

As the year has started, so is my never ending wishlist!
New collections are released, and oh well.... there is just one answer :

This year I'm lusting over another Chanel handbag... Crazy I know!
I already have my SHW Jumbo, which I love and will never part from, but I a smaller version would be a nice addition to the collection. Also because the smaller version would be much easier to wear crossbody!

As a more work-related bag I really really like the Dior "Open Bar" handbag. Preferably in a grey-color.

Off course a Birkin or a Kelly would be nice on this wishlist... but I try to stay a bit realistic...We all know that ain't gonna happen anytime soon (maybe if I win the lottery?!)
In the SLG departement my eye catched the Louis Vuitton "Pochette Cosmétique"

Off course I wasn't finished with Chanel on this wishlist! Chanel ballet flats in black or two-toned would look great in a casual jeans outfit!

Jewelry wise there are 2 items of which I'm head over heels. 1st of all the simple, classic and elegant Soleste necklace from Tiffany & Co.

Followed by the Mise en Dior Necklace.

This is my whislist at the beginning of 2016. A lot of these items will remain many many years on my wishlist I'm afraid. But a girl can dream no?
What's on your wishlist this year?

The Best Chocolate Cake You'll Ever Have‏

This year I was in charge of the Christmas dessert...what on earth should I make? I started browsing on the internet and I stumbled on: The Best Chocolate Cake You'll Ever Have‏  at the goodhouskeeping website !

  • 2 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 c. unsweetened cocoa
  • 1½ tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4th tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. Butter or Margarine, Softened
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1½ c. low-fat buttermilk

Make the frosting: • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa • 1/3 cup boiling water • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar •12 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled

  • Prepare cake layers: Preheat oven to 180°. Grease three 8-in. round cake pans. Line bottoms with waxed paper; grease paper. Dust pans with flour
  • On another sheet of waxed paper, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. In large bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat butter and brown and granulated sugars until blended. Increase speed to high; beat 5 minutes or until pale and fluffy, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Reduce speed to medium-low; add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla until blended. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour mixture; beat just until batter is smooth, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.

  • Spoon batter evenly among prepared pans. If necessary, stagger pans on 2 oven racks, placing 2 on upper rack and 1 on lower rack, so that top pans are not directly above bottom one. Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. With small knife, loosen layers from sides of pans; invert onto wire racks. Carefully remove and discard waxed paper; cool completely, about 45 minutes. If you like, wrap layers well and store at room temperature up to 1 day or freeze up to 1 month. Bring to room temperature before frosting cake.
  • Meanwhile, prepare frosting: (see above) In small bowl, combine cocoa and boiling water, stirring until smooth. In large bowl, with mixer at medium-high speed, beat butter and confectioners' sugar 5 minutes or until fluffy. Reduce speed to medium-low; add melted chocolate, then cocoa mixture, beating until smooth and occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. If frosting is too runny, refrigerate until just stiff enough to spread.
  • Assemble cake: Place 1 cake layer bottom side up on cake plate; spread with 1/3 cup frosting. Top with second layer, bottom side up; spread with 1/3 cup frosting. Place remaining layer bottom side up on top. Spread remaining frosting over sides and top of cake.

La Mer the cleansing foam

Photo taken with Iphone 5S

Back in september I was introduced to the La Mer Renewal Oil, a miracle worker if you ask me.
Together with a sample of the Renewal Oil, I also received a sample of the cleansing foam. I started using the sample on a daily basis every evening after my pre-cleanse with the Bioderma micellar water.  The Cleansing foam is a soft and gentle foaming cleanser of which you only need a very small amount to cleanse your whole face.

According to La Mer:
La Mer The Cleansing Foam is a gentle foaming cleanser that purifies skin and promotes a healthy-looking, bright complexion. The formula contains the nutrient-rich Miracle Broth as well as sea algae fibres and white pearl powder to detoxify and energise skin.

In the meanwhile I ran out of my sample and bought the full version of the cleansing foam because I just love it.
I only use it in the evening, otherwise I do think that it might be to drying on my skin. The Cleansing Foam smells pleasant, very light and subtle. My skin feels clean, soft and soothed. Most important it does not cause my skin to break out. After using it my skin just looks brighter, more “glowy”, it’s like having a face mask every evening.  I can even say that the tiny bit of redness I have on my cheeks already improved big time!

The Cleansing Foam of La Mer isn’t cheap, but you only need the tiniest amount to wash your whole face so you’ll have it for a very long period. Look at it as an investment in your skin. A nice introduction to the La Mer range.

La Mer – The Cleansing Foam (125 ml) - € 82 for sale at Parfuma

Have you ever tried a La Mer cleanser?

How to budget

Image: Google

If you have read my blogpost about New Year's Resolutions , you know that one of them is to budget my finances and try to save more in 2016.

There are many different ways on how to do this, special app’s on your phone, agenda inserts,… I created an excel file, myself, where I can fill in all my expenses.  Budgeting isn’t that easy, it takes commitment and time, but you learn so much when you do it
I need to fill in my income and also ALL my expenses in this excel file each day. That’s right ALL your expenses, even if it is only € 1 that you spend on a candy bar.

I have 9 different departements in my excel file:

  • Income(s)
  • Living expenses(rent, mortgage, electricity, gas,…)
  • Daily expenses (food, hygiene, clothes,…)
  • Health expenses (dentist, doctor,…)
  • Communication expenses (mobile phone, internet,…)
  • Leisure expenses (hobby, sports, going out,…)
  • Debt installments (visa,…)
  • Non specific expenses (bank costs,…)
  • Savings
In total I have 13 different worksheets in the excel file. My first worksheet is called: TOTAL BUDGET 2016. In this I have all 12 months lined up and the total of each seperate month of each department will be filled in automatically. Then I created 12 different worksheets, 1 per month, where I fill in each and every penny I earn and spend. The total of each line, in each monthly worksheet, will automatically be inserted in the first worksheet total budget 2016. That’s how I can keep an eye on my income and expenses each month and have a total overview of 2016 at the end of the year.
As I already said, this will be an eye opener and very confronting. In my opinion this is the way to work if you want to budget your money.

Do you already keep a budget? Do you use an app, an excel file,…? All tips are welcome!

Everybody in beautyland is raving about LUSH products ALL THE TIME! I thought, I should give it a go and opted for the well known: King of Skin, a body butter. As my legs are always uber dry I wondered if this could work miracles? And yes ladies & gentlemen it does! My skin is super soft after applying and the best of all, no more fuss after you take a shower. You apply the bodybutter all over your body when your in the shower or when you take a bath. Gently rinse it off afterwards, get out of the shower and just dry yourself with a towel. In the beginning you'll notice that you're still a bit "sticky" but that feeling disapears very quickly. I always opt to use this in the evenings, when I have the time to relax and I don't need to hop in to my clothes.

On the website:

Luxury butter bar for royally soft skin

King of Skin is a solid body lotion to make your dry skin softer, smoother, and more flexible.
Supremely moisturizing freshly mashed bananas and avocados are whipped into a luxurious, skin soothing base of oat milk and lavender. You'll immediately notice the softening effect these natural ingredients have on the skin; and the best part is the effects last all day! Smooth onto wet skin just out of the shower, towel off - and you're left with royally soft skin.

King of Skin retails for €9,95 and is available online or in stores.

PAULA’S CHOICE - Clear Acne Body Spray with 2% Salicylic Acid

Last summer my dermatologist told me that I sufferd from Keratosis Pilaris. These are little red bumps on your arms or/and legs. She told me to use a special bodycream, but that didn’t work at all. Last week I saw that Paula’s Choice had a new product to reduce these bumps: Clear Acne Body Spray with 2% Salicylic Acid.  I gave the product a try and immediately after 2 days, using it a.m. and p.m., I’ve noticed a difference. My skin is much smoother and the bumps aren’t that noticeable as before. This is only after using it for 2 days! You can say that this product definitely convinced me. I don’t know if they will disappear completely, but I’m already so happy with my current results that I just had to share this with you girls.

Paula’s choice also offers "Clinical KP Treatment Clothes" for when you are on holiday and don’t want to take the spray with you.

ATTENTION! If you use this on your body and you get in to the sun ALWAYS use an SPF.

Clear AcneBody Spray with 2% Salicylic Acid, retails at € 24 on Paula’s Choice website.

Are you suffering from KP? What did you try to get rid of it?

New Year’s Resolutions

Happy 2016 everyone! I wish you all the love and joy you want in 2016. Let’s talk about those New Year’s resolutions you’ve made on New Year’s eve! Everyone always tells that they are going to be more healthy etc and when January has passed nobody cares anymore.  This year I want it to be different! I started to “plan” my resolutions debut December 2015 and hope to keep up with them in 2016.

What are they?

Exercise & eat as healthy as possible

Cliché I know. The best gift I gave myself in 2015 was to work out with a personal trainer. This isn’t cheap, but worth every single penny ! I’m combining my workouts with (sort of) a healthy lifestyle and I feel SO much happier. I really want to keep this going in 2016.

Budgeting & Saving

2016 will be the year that I will up my saving game and start to budget my expenses. This will be an eye opener and very confronting. I already created an excel spreadsheet so everything is ready, there is no way back!

I want to discover the world ! At this moment I don’t have the budget to travel the whole world but I’ll start this year with some nice city trips and a vacation to Ibiza. Hopefully I can add many more countries to my list.

What are your New Year’s Resolutions for 2016?
