MAC Prep + prime Natural Radiance - Radiant Pink




As told in my previous MAC blogpost I went a bit crazy in the MAC store ! I reviewed the latest Studio Water Weight foundation and raved about it, but that wasn’t the only product I’ve picked up and been loving ever since!

Let’s talk about make-up primers. I never ever used one until I bought it that Saturday. The MAC Prep + prime base Natural Radiance in the shade radiant pink (there is also a yellow version for people with yellow undertones).

This illuminating makeup base is to be applied before the foundation, with the purpose of blurring fine lines, pores and any imperfection. Also, this oil-controlling primer is to help the foundation/powder last longer, giving an even and a nice glow, without making the skin oily.

 After applying the primer it doesn’t  leave my skin feeling tacky, instead it feels soft and my “fine lines” are gently blurred out. You can even use this around your eye contours ! Can you make the connection why I loved It so much in the store? Bye bye fine lines around my eyes…

How to apply? I first moisturize my face as a last step of my skincare routine, then I take a tiny bit (same amount as your moisturizer) of the primer to cover my complete face. It blends out incredibly well because it has such a light texture. Your face will be left with a little radiance, a healthy glow.

When using this primer my make up will last all day long, it doesn’t need any touch ups during the day, isn’t that amazing? I’m currently really liking this base but then again I can’t really compare because I’ve never used any other make-up base/primer. Why haven’t I tried this before?  Little side note, this product does contain silicones. If you are allergic to them or you’ll get breakouts from silicones I wouldn’t recommend this product.

Fitness Friday Week 2 + 3

Hello Fitgirls ! bad blogger over here, as I’m typing this I realized that I haven’t posted last week! This post will be an update of 2 weeks to make up with you girls.


Step by step I’m developing a routine, although the BBG still is a big sacrifice for me. I just don’ t know why? The first time I could do every planned workout and now I’m just not feeling it :-/

Week 2 went horribly wrong. Just until Wednesday I was still sore from my first attempt of Kayla’s week 1 Legs & Cardio the week before (6 days of extreme soreness!). Week 3 I was starting to get my mojo  back! :-) Still no Kayla and only cardio! Anyone has a tip how to get back on track with BBG?

Due to the extreme soreness I couldn't restart my BBG workouts, I was afraid to make it even worse. 
Apparently I was this sore because I hadn’t had enough protein right after my workout. You need to eat/drink protein in the 30 minutes after an intensive workout. Still figuring out how I’m going to do this!

Foodwise I'm still counting my kcal's on my Fitness Pall app, it's working. One day is better than the other but then again, I still have to live a little and I had some occasions where there was wine and champagne and I had a glass (or two...)

Workout Schedule week 2:

Tuesday: Liss – Hypoxi (50 minutes – 270 kcal)
Friday: Liss – Hypoxi (50 minutes – 285 kcal)

Workout Schedule week 3:

Wednesday - Running ( 34 minutes - 299 kcal)
Thursday - Hypoxi (50 minutes - 288 kcal)
Saturday - Hypoxi (50 minutes - 289 Kcal)
Sunday - Running (27 minutes - 224 kcal)

For those who live in Belgium/The Netherlands you must have heard about Start 2 Run. I downloaded the app. This is really great if you like to start/get back on track with running. You can choose your own music and the app will tell you when to run and when to walk. It also tracks you kcal's and the km's. I like it, waaaay better than the first attempt they made and when you had to listen to the same music over and over again. I'm a fan :-)

Another thing I talked about the first week was to get some more healthy recipe ideas. I bought the book Everydaydetox by DETOXINISTA .

This isn’t a juice detox book or anything. Instead this is a cookbook with 100 healthy recipes that you can eat on a daily basis, everything is covered from breakfast to snacks and deserts, all healthy! There isn’t an extreme ingredients list and it’s all easy to prepare. As I’m writing this I’m still reading the book, there’s a chapter on food paring for better digestion, and I’m placing sticky notes on all the recipes I want to recreate. (I've already made the stuffed sweet potatoe and it was amazing!) You’ll see them pass by on the blog!

Charlotte Simone Popsicle scarf


In my opinion these Charlotte Simone’s Popsicle furscarf/stole are super cute! It’s the perfect winter overlay in many different and fun colors! The real deal is available at £ 300 and it also exists in Faux Fur £ 175. For those who are on a budget and like this as much as I do there is some good news! Topshop created a more affordable version of this statement stole at € 44.

MAC Cosmetics Haul



Saturday, the 12th of September, I popped in to the MAC store in Antwerp. It is safe to say that you can’t leave me alone in there! Those who follow me on Instagram already seen the damage that I’ve done. Originally I just went in to take a look at the GIAMBATISTA VALLI collection that was released in stores that day. I know it was  a big deal on the internet but I decided not to buy anything because the colors just weren’t my thing. I did love the packaging tho! They should make every mac lipstick in those packaging, the struggle wouldn’t be as hard every morning to find that perfect shade.

The SA approached me and whilst we were having a small talk, she  told me that the new STUDIO WATERWEIGHT FOUNDATION was just released that day. Off course I had to try it and… oh well what else good have happened? Yes… I fell in love with it. This isn’t just a foundation it’s a serum foundation that will sort out your pores and fine lines (Jackpot!).

What else does it promises?

The SA first applied the prep + prime skin primer followed by the studio waterweight foundation (I am a NW 15) and honestly it felt like a dream! I never ever had this effect with any foundation or BB / CC crème before.  The foundation just melted into my skin and feels like you are wearing nothing at all! Best part of it all was that it doesn’t crease in to my fine lines around my eyes. As told before this is something that I’m really fixated on. She also applied the foundation with the matching 196 brush, specially designed for the Studio Waterweight foundation. When applying it with this ultrasoft brush it’s like giving a massage to your face every morning. Who doesn’t like that every morning?

The SA told me that although the finish is great on it’s own, but you’d better powder it off just a little bit to have that extra long wear effect, so she did with the MAC Mineralize skinfinish natural in medium plus. 




Off course I bought it all! (shame on me) And one more extra item from the Haute Dogscollection –the sculpting powder in shadester (Limited Edtion).



I can say that everything was applied around noon and I took it all off at 22h in the evening. I even had to walk in the rain (without umbrella) and I can say, everything stayed perfectly in place until I had to take it off in the evening.

How about a cape?


I’ve always loved this iconic Burberry cape, but because of the heavy price card I never bought it (still on my never ending wishlist ;-) ) As capes are really on trend this fall/winter I was searching for an alternative. And then my mom came home with this SuperTrash cape and I think I need to borough it immediately! I know this isn’t exactly the same, but it’s so nice on and VERY affordable!

Philosophy Hope In a Jar Renewed

Back when I attended the Vogue Beauty Night Out I received the Renewed Hope In A Jar by Philosophy. You’ve all read about how my skin turned on me and I needed to use my Avène skin saviors. Nowadays my skin is way better so I could start using and testing new brands. What better way than to start with Philosophy?  Before this the only Philosophy product I’ve ever tried was the "old" Hope In A Jar and I was very pleased with it! Let’s see of the newer version will get me addicted as well?


Visible signs? It smoothens my pores and as you can see on the swatch picture, it’s a very light moisturizing cream, my skin soaked it up extremely quick. It even helps to minimize fine lines. After applying it (don’t forget your neck ladies!) you can expect a dewy and healthy skin (not greasy!). Philosophy uses 3 different forms of hyaluronate, this will make your skin feel hydrate all day long. Although I loved the Hope In A Jar, I HATED the smell! Luckily the Renewed Hope In A Jar has a light and lovely scent. Overall I’m very pleased with the Renewed Hope In A Jar and will keep on using it (as long as my skin won’t turn on me again!).

Fitness Friday Week 1


WEEK 1 => 31/08/2015 until 06/09/2015

Last Friday you could read my intro in to my new fitness routine. A week had passed and here’s how it went… I had completly forgotten why #DEATHBYKAYLA was so trending in Instagram… really after my first resistance session last week my legs where shaking and my head was as red as 10 tomatoes :-). At that point I remembered what the next 12 weeks were going to look like ! Honestly it isn’t that appealing at the moment, no pain no gain right? Hopefully I’ll start “liking” these exercises more as time passes by. I have no problems with the LISS exercises, I always was a cardio bunny. 

On Friday morning I did Legs & Cardio...on Friday afternoon the soreness began... And guess what? I was sore from Friday untill Wednesday! I literally could barely walk! The whole weekend was hel :-( This is the reason why I had only 1 resistance workout for week 1. that means that I'll have to start over again... RESTART BBG week 1 next week is the only option to do it right and to start a routine.

When did I work out and what did I do?

  • Monday: LISS -  50 minutes of Hypoxi (burned kcal: 292)
  • Tuesday: LISS – 60 minutes of walking the treadmill with 12% incline at 5 km/h (burned kcal: 373)
  • Friday: BBG Legs & Cardio - 28 minutes (burned kcal 223)
  • Saturday 60 minutes of Formostar (Your packed in heat pack, I tought this might help for my soreness, unfortunately...)
As you can see, in the beginning of the week I was putting my BBG of, I guess I was a bit scared and I was right about that. The term #DEATHBYKAYLA is real after all. Due to my extreme soreness I'll be restarting with BBG week 1. After all it's about keeping up with this new lifestyle and not about torturing yourself :-)

As for my food, it wasn’t always as clean as it should be, but then again you still have to enjoy your life! I had 1 glass of Prosecco on Thursday and some sweets on Tuesday because we went to the movies and I’m just a sucker for those sweets :-D

I’ve ordered the book: Everyday Detox and hopefully this will give me some ideas/recipes to eat as clean as possible. I did discover “Oven baked Fajita’s” last week and been lovin them! Wanna try them as well? Here's the recipe (serves 4 persons):

Ingredients 
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 boneless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 red pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 yellow pepper, cut into thin strips
  • 1 red onion, cut into thin strips 
  • Whole wheat tortillas
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Shredded cheese
  • Cilantro
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Lime wedges

Instructions
 Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
Add olive oil, garlic, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper to a large Ziploc bag. Add chicken strips, peppers, and onion to the bag. Coat completely. Spread the chicken and vegetables in a single layer on the pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Serve on tortillas and add lettuce, cheese, cilantro, sour cream and salsa. Spritz with lime.




You’ll have around 2 Fajita’s a person, and that was sufficient, and oh so good! :-)

Beauty Pillow




I had read about the benefits of a satin/silk pillow on many blogs and wanted to try them for ages, but the high end pricecard always stopped me from ordering it. That was until one of my good friend F told me she had one, and guess what? It was affordable! F had received her "Beauty Pillow" as a gift and couldn't recommend it more. I knew I just had to order it asap.

Why a satin pillow case? Due to the fine, smooth structure of the satin, skin and hair retains its moisture and sebum production is optimally regulated. Satin also has a polishing effect. The result is beautiful, smooth skin without impurities and shiny hair without tangles. Who doesn’t want that?

Fitness Friday




After a relaxing holiday and almost no sports because of the heat I decided that I needed a change in my life. I wasn’t feeling happy with myself/my body so a change is in order! I faced the dreadfull scale and off course I had gained weight :-( no fun! Time to make some "drastic" changes in order to become happy again. After some browsing on the internet, I started with the BBG training by Kayla Itsines on the 31st of august 2015. To be extra motivated I’ll blog about my progress every Friday. If it helped me with #nobuyagust it might help me to get through these 12 weeks. :-)


What is BBG ?

BBG is a 12 week training program that you can do at home or at the gym combined with LISS and at the end HIIT sessions.

Week 1-4
  • 2 – 3 sessions resistance training (the BBG workouts)
  • 2 – 3 LISS sessions (45 min walk / cardio)
  • 1 stretch session
Week 5-8
  • 2 – 3 sessions resistance training (the BBG workouts)
  • 4 - 5  LISS sessions (45 min walk / cardio)
  • 1 stretch session
Week 9 – 12
  • 3 – 4 sessions resistance training (the BBG workouts)
  • 2 - 3 LISS sessions (45 min walk / cardio)
  • 1-2 HIIT sessions (High intensity cardio training)
  • 1 – 2 stretch session
When you struggle with eating healthy, Kayla also provides a HELP food guide. I’m not going to follow this meal plan because I know what I need to do to eat healthy. Everyone who struggles with eating healthy, this is a really great option. Kayla explains very thoroughly what are good food options and what not. She also includes some recipes to give you some ideas. Another idea, if you like to watch your calorie intake, is to use the app (free) MyFitnessPal. Attention, if u do the BBG make sure that your calorie intake is high enough! You’re working out a lot and your body needs enough “fuel” to keep up with that. I’m not a dietician nor a doctor, so when in doubt contact them.
