Sarah Chapman review

When you follow some british bloggers they all mention 1 person: Sarah Chapman. Sarah is a well known facialist in London who launched her own signature product range in 2008 and has won various awards including Best New Skincare Brand at the CEW Awards 2009. After everybody was raving about her "overnight facial" I really got curious and ordered the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Starter Kit on

There are 4 products in the starterkit:

Ultimate cleanse
Dynamic Defence SPF 15
Overnight Facial
Eye Recovery

Ultimate cleanse starts off as a balm but once you start massaging it around your face it melts to oil so you're able to give yourself a good facial massage for as long as you want. The balm/oil works it's way deep into pores and removes impurities then when you add water it changes to a milk. Ultimate Cleanse is full of anti-ageing ingredients as well as ingredients to boost collagen production. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft and completely clean. I've just been using a flannel to remove it from my face. It's really a lovely cleanser, but I don't know if I would spend that amount of money(40£ for 100ml) on the full size cleanser.

Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Dermaxyl™ Oligopeptide, White Lily, Coenzyme Q10, Borage Oil, Baobab Oil, Melon Oil, Rosehip, Jojoba Oil, Abyssinian Oil, Meadowfarm Seed Oil.

Dynamic Defence SPF 15: I'm still on the look of the perfect moisturiser, I haven't found it yet. My skin is at an awkward age, I'm 27 and I need to hydrate but also prevent wrinkels! I'm at an age now where I'm starting to notice fine lines (only around my eyes but I want to prevent them appearing on the rest of my face) so I'll need anti-ageing products that aren't to heavy. Trying to find a product to target fine lines without over stimulating my skin and causing spots is almost impossible. According to Sarah Chapman the Dynamic Defence SPF 15  protects from UV and environmental damage. Improves the appearance of clarity and restores the skin’s natural moisture balance. Revolutionary peptides plump the skin and increase collagen production, giving skin back its firmness and elasticity. Improves acne marking and calms irritated skin. Our signature complex of skin brighteners lightens uneven dark pigmentation and gives skin a radiant glow. At this moment I've tried it for a couple of days and haven't had a spot yet (because of the SPF it's a bit of a thicker cream). Perhaps I might have found the perfect moisturiser?

SPF 15 UVA/UVB, Vitamin A, Coenzyme Q10, Tyrostat™ 11, Emblica™, Bearberry, Photosomes, Beta Glucan, Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Abyssinian Oil, Iris, Rose and Jasmine, also contains Oxybenzone.

Overnight Facial: this is Sarah's cult product that everyone is raving about! But I'm not really sure if I'm in to it that much. It's an oil that you need to apply over the face and the neck. I was afraid that the oil would be to heavy for me, but actually it's not. I haven't woken up with any spots or rash. The one thing that does irritate me is the smell! I just don't know but I don't like it and it'll last for a pretty long time after applying the serum. The morning after using the overnight facial my skin will look very plumped, smooth and rejuvenated (at the website they mention that the serum also helps with stressed skin) I won't use this every night, but it's a nice extra to give your skin a little treat.

Vitamin A, VCIP Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Lipobrite®HCA-4, Coenzyme Q10, Renovage™, Dermaxyl™Oligopeptide, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Abyssinian Oil, Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Melon Oil, Baobab Oil, Jojoba, Jasmine, Rose.

Eye Recovery: My eye area is my main concern. I'm starting to see fine lines, and it irritates me! Eye Recovery contains an ingredient called Syn-Ake peptide which creates a botox like effect to instantly plump and smooth fine lines. My ears pricked up when I heard Botox like effect but I was sceptical. Honestly I haven't seen any difference with my Bobbi Brown extra repair eyecream. I'll need to test this product a little bit more before I can write an honest review on it. Eye Recovery can also be used around the lip area and between the eyes.

Matrixyl™ Pentapeptide, Eyeliss™ Tetrapeptide, Syn®-Ake Dipeptide, Haloxyl™ Oligopeptide & Tetrapeptide, Syn®-Coll Tripeptide, Renovage™, DMAE, Hyaluronic Filling Spheres™, Unirepair T43, VCIP Vitamin C, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Pentavitin®, Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E, Vitamin A Palmitate, L-Carnosine, Iris, Mushroom, Aloe Leaf Juice.

The verdict?
I like the products and understand all the fuss about it, after all she wouldn't win awards if it didn't work. I'm curious about trying some more of her products!

Do these products sound interesting to you? Which one would you order?

London & Paris Shopping Haul!

I've just returned from a shoppingtrip to London and thought you would be curious to know what came home with me.

First stop was Tory Burch, there was a 30% sale going on, so we just had to take a look.
Get 2 TB-addicts in a store with discount and we won't leave empty handed. I got the perfume (no discount unfortunately) and the typical TB cardigan in beige. I already have one and I'm just soooo in love with it, the stoftest fabric...

After TB I went in to Space NK, heaven on earth for the beautyaddicts among us. I could have bought everything in the store. It was hard but I only left with a little Christmas present for my dad, a gift set from this works,  the deep sleep pillow talk.

Boots was another store I just had to check, I bought some presents there, but I know some of these persons read the blog so I'm only going to mention the things I bought for myself ;-) There was a 3 for 2 action on all the maybelline products and this is what came home with me:

2 colordrama lippencils (the 2nd red on the left and the first pink one on the right). These are SO smooth to apply, and not expensive at all! Happy camper overhere!

I'm a bit tired of spending more than 25€ on a mascara (although I'm in love with the Chanel Inimitable). So I went for the colossal volume express mascara by maybelline that A. suggested me.

Final Boots purchase is the Philospohy - Help me nightcream. Everytime I use this I just notice that my skin is so much better. I haven't found it in Belgium (yet?) so I had no other choice than to buy it ;-)

That's it for my London shopping haul. I didn't buy that much but thats mostely because of the bad pound rate and I already had a little #Feelingspendy moment in Paris a week before!

When entering the Chanel store at Rue Cambon, I just knew it, I wasn't going to leave the store without a new handbag! An early Christmas present it was. :-)
I've tried the Maxi and the Jumbo, just because I was still in doubt. Surprisingly the Maxi wasn't TO big for me (okay it's a big handbag, but not that huge). But eventually I decided to go with the Jumbo. Why? Because 1) you can use the Jumbo at night time, the maxi was definitly only a day-time bag, and 2) for those few cm's diffrence they asked about 400€ more.
Here's a little picture of my latest addition to my handbag collection ;-)

What do you like to try/buy from my shopping haul?

I don't post this to brag about anything, I've saved up a long time to buy all these items.

London Beauty Wishlist

My annual London shopping trip is just around the corner, about time to make my beauty wishlist!
A lot of great makeup- and beauty products aren't available in Belgium or they are just a lot cheaper in the UK. These products don't come cheap so if I can save some money by buying them in London I will definitely do that :-).
It's not a huge wishlist, but I've heard such great things and read a lot of reviews about them that I really want to see/test them in real life! When I return from London I'll blog a haul-post of what I eventually ended up buying.

Here are the items on my beauty wishlist:

1) Help Me - Philosophy
2) Charlotte Tilbury - Magic Cream
3) Charlotte Tilbury - Lipstick
4) Oribe - Dry Texturizing Spray
5) Thisworks - Deep Sleep Pillow Spray
6) NARS - Concealer
7) Laura Mercier - Primer
8) Tory Burch - Perfume

What would you like to try of this list?

Chanel Jumbo vs Chanel Maxi

After a long time of saving up my pennies (and a lot more) I'm thinking about adding a new Chanel handbag to my collection! YAY! But the question is which size to choose?

I’m already sure that IF I buy a new Chanel I'm going for the classic model in the caviar leather, after all this is a lot of money so a classic piece is perfect! The classic flap bag will go with almost every piece of clothing in my wardrobe. Even a casual outfit will look chic and sophisticated with this bag hanging around my arm. I’m opting for the caviar leather because it’s more wearable as an everyday bag. The lambskin is super beautiful and soft but it scratches so quickly that I would be afraid of using it, and after all that’s not the point when I buy this handbag.

About me? I’m a petit girl of only 1m60 tall, so that’s something I need to take in consideration, a bag that is too large just won’t fit me. Another point is that I want to wear the bag on a daily basis, I already own a “Chanel east west classic” and this is really an evening bag, during the day I have a lot of stuff! (I guess every girl does). So the only options for me are the Jumbo or the Maxi.

Here’s some extra information, because the picture is a bit deceiving:

Chanel Jumbo

19.5 x 30 x 10 cm
Caviar Leather
Silver Hardware

Chanel Maxi

23 x 33 x 10 cm
Caviar Leather
Silver Hardware

With the prices going to the roof these days, and they will be increasing each year (sometimes twiece a year!). I really think that now is the time to buy the bag. if it would increase even more than I just won't buy it anymore. The prices are already ridiculous! (I'm easing my mind saying that it's a great investment).

I’m really thinking about the Jumbo, but sometimes I’m afraid that it won’t be big enough for an everyday bag.

What do you girls recommend? Should I stop doubting and buy the bag? Or should I just keep on saving? Are you buying a Chanel anytime soon?

I don't want to brag with this post, as I said before I've saved up for this item and I understand that there are people who have other interests/ideas.

Jane Iredale - Dream tint

As you recently found out about, until a few weeks ago I was a foundation virgin (find out here).
You must have been thinking: what on earth did she use? Well if i'm honest most of the time pretty much nothing, but occasionally I used the Dream Tint moisturizer in medium/light from Jane Iredale.

Dream tint is Jane Iredale's tinted moisturizer with SPF15 (always a plus when there's an SPF in it!) As for coverage: pretty much nothing. But it leaves your skin with a healthy glow (not greasy), smoother and more even-toned! You can apply it by using your fingers, but I like to use my Sigma F80 Kabuki brush for it. Gives it a more "airbrushed" effect. I wear it without any powder on top, but if you have an oily skin you can always use some setting powder. If you want to stay in the Jane Iredale assortiment I would reccomend the loose powder or if you want more coverage the pressed powder.

Interested in the consitency of this moisturizer? The ingredients:

Active Ingredient: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) 4.5% Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Algae Extract, Sambucus Nigra (Elder Flower) Extract, Dimethicone, Jojoba Esters, Octyldodecyl, Neopentanoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Glycerin, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract, Boron Nitride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Mica (CI 77019), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288)

As you can see, there are quite a few ingredients. The sunscreen is titanium dioxide which is great for those with sensitive skin (and don’t want chemical sunscreens). And then there is the Shea butter, seed oil, Jojoba,... for the moisturizing part. The silicones in it make sure that the pores and the fine lines will be filled.

Final verdict?

It provides light coverage and is good for the skin. It’s sheer coverage can be used solely or underneath foundations. And of course, the SPF is always a plus!

Will you be trying this tinted moisturizer?

Céline Micro Luggage - SS 2015

Celine Micro Luggage Handbag in Textile

Color: Navy Multicolour

Size: 10′ x 10′ x 6′ inches
Price: €1550 euro’s

I am in LOVE! This Céline Micro Luggage is the perfect casual handbag! I saw this picture when cruising the world wide web...suddenly I stumbled on an article of the new Céline SS15 handbags.
I've been lusting after the Céline handbags for a while (also really love the trapèze ones! :-) ) and when I saw this beauty I just knew, this is LOVE!

Some size information: the MICRO version is the medium version of the handbag. The large version is called the MINI and the smallest one is the NANO.

I've done some research and the Mini is a really heavy and large bag!(especially when completely made in leather) That's why I think that this Micro in textile version would suit me perfectly! Not to heavy and the perfect color combination for casual days. I see myself wearing a casual white top with a blazer, some jeans and a pair of converse sneakers. To top of this look I would have this lovely bag hanging around my arm! Ready for some citytripping, shopping, day time drinks with the girls,..

One can dream no? #christmaswhislist?

Do you have a handbagcrush at this moment?

Ren - Flash rinse 1 minute facial

Who doesn't like a face mask? Unfortunatly we don't always have the time to get one. In comes Ren Cosmetics newest product: FLASH RINSE 1 MINUTE FACIAL.

It's a transforming treatment that instantly revitalizes and visibly rejuvenates the skin. Formulated with potent water-activated Vitamin C it will neutralize urban grey in a flash, leaving your skin looking firm, toned and smoothed, while reducing the signs of fatigue, photo-ageing and skin imperfections. Your skin instantly glows with renewed health and radiance.

What do they promise? Results?

  • Skin instantly looks and feels re-energised, re-awakened.
  • Reduces the appearance of lines, imperfections and photo-ageing.
  • Tones, firms and banishes urban grey.

How to use?

Use every 3 days. After cleansing, apply over face and neck massaging with circular movements. Dampen finger tips with water and massage again to activate the Vitamin C. Leave for 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly.

Skin type?

All skin types except those prone to sensitivity.

I received a sample of the Ren - Flash rinse 1 minute facial and after using it I fell completly in love with it. This makes my skin supersoft, radiant, awake,... only good things! When I bought the full size at Parfuma Antwerp, the sales lady told me to use it more as a mask and to leave it on for about 8 minutes, I guess that's another way of using it.

At the moment I'm using it as said on the product. Every 3 days in the evening after cleansing my face, I put on the mintgreen formula all over my face and neck and wait for about 1 minute.(You can use it in the morning after cleansing your face, but I don't always have the time for that so I prefer the evening.) I don't really massage it in, that's a bit to grainy / hard for me. It's quick, easy and most important of all it's effective! Ren says that all skintypes can use it, except the very sensitive ones. I can see what they mean, when you have sensitive skin and massage the product it really is very grainy and might irritate your skin.

Ren cosmetics are exlusively available at Parfuma X Cosmeticary in Belgium.

Are you interested in adding this to your routine? Do you have experience with this product?

Bobbi Brown - What's on my face ?

After my visit to Bobbi Brown at Parfuma Antwerp, I couldn’t leave without buying something (or almost EVERYTHING :p) I liked the look they created for me so I had a little bit of a splurge. #FeelingSpendy. But after all it’s my birthday this month, so why not?

Which products were used on me?

First step was Skincare. Annelore cleansed my skin with the Soothing Cleansing Oil and hydrated it with the Hydrating Face Cream. For my eyes she used the Extra repair eye cream, because I’m already using this one. To top this all of my lips got treated with a Lipbam.

After prepping my face there was the search to the perfect foundation color and texture. Because I’m a foundation virgin (really I’ve turned 27 and until last week I’ve never used it in my life!)They do this using the BOBBI BROWN FOUNDATION STICKS, they come in about 24 skin tone shades, so you’ll always find your colour. Because I’m a foundation virgin and I don’t like a cakey look on my face we’ve opted to stay with the Foundation stick. I’m colour SAND 2 (Yes I’m a very pale person J). This stick will give you a light till full coverage, it's very buildable. But before the foundation Annelore used a CC cream in color Pale Nude to even out my skintone.

Next in line was correcting my under eyes and concealing them. For this Annelore used the Corrector in extra light bisque and the Concealor in cool sand.

Annelore set my foundation and concealor with the Sheerfinished powder in pale yellow.

After using foundation (no matter what sort) your face is in 2D, to recreate that 3D effect you need to apply bronzer in the right places. Because I’m really pale a brown bronzer would never look natural for me, so we went with the Antigua 2 bronzer, which has a pink undertone, followed with a little bit of Blush in Pale Pink.

Bobbi’s rule is to first apply lipstick before creating your eye look, that way you’ll know how much eye make up to apply. For my lips we choosed the Arty Stick Lips in Dusty Pink.

Last but not least, the eyes! First of all defining the eyebrows. I have really blond eyebrows, so without product it almost looks like I don’t have any J normally I use the Benefit gimme brow in light/Medium (sort of a mascara for eyebrows) but we went for a powder. Annelore used the color wheat powder, to set my eyeshadow she used the long wear eye shadow base and then created a smokey eye with the Smokey nudes eye palette (limited edition), the Longwear eye gel in Graphite Shimmer ink and topped it off with the Smokey eye mascara.

I’ loved the look, so as you can see in the picture I took a lot of products home with me.

What do you think?

Oreo cupcake heaven!

I had a mini bake off last weekend because I got inspired by Tanya Burr and her Oreo cupcakes.
Let me tell you one thing: HEAVEN! I scored big time with these cupcakes!
The color isn't the most apeeling that excist but the taste makes you forget about that.
You just know you need to try this yourself, here's the recipe:

For the cupcakes:

175g butter
165g caster sugar
3 eggs
40g cocoa powder
125g self raising flower
1 tsp baking powder
1 pack oreos

For the frosting:

2 packs oreos
100g butter
200g icing sugar

Set the oven to a180 degrees celsius. Prepare your cupcake tins by puttin in the cupcake papers. Mix your butter and sugar until a smooth mixture. Next step is adding the eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, whisk this all in. Last but not least, add all your dry ingredients (cocoa powder, flour and baking powder). Pop a whole oreo into the bottom of each cupcake paper. Then before putting them in the oven scoop the mixture into your cupcake papers on top of the oreo, fill the papers almost to the top. Time to bake!  put them in the oven for 14-17 minutes (it depends on how fast your oven cooks your cupcakes !)

Whilst your cupcakes are in the oven, you need to make the frosting. Mix your butter and icing sugar together (make sure the butter is on room temperature!) with a wooden spoon into a soft buttercream (this takes a while and at some points it looks like there just isn't engough butter. DO NOT AD EXTRA BUTTER. You'll see it will all turn out fine). Then you need to crumb up half a pack of oreo's (I used a kitchenrobot to help me with this). Stir your oreo crumbs into your buttercream and there you have your oreo frosting!

Once your cupcakes are completely cooled down you can spoon on your frosting and for a finishing touch, break an oreo in half and push it on top.

And then the best part: you can eat them! :-)

Will you be trying out this recipe? Let me know what you'd think of them!

XO S.

Clinique repairwear intensive lip treatment

Fall has set in and soon enough it will be winter, which stands for dry lips! HORROR!

So this is the moment to start protecting your lips and what better way to do this then with the Clinique repairwear intensive lip treatment. After reading a review by Vivianna does make up, I was hooked! I needed this in my life!

This isn’t just a lipbalm, it’s an intensive lip treatment that helps repair the look of wrinkles on and around lips. Provides antioxidant protection against the environment. Boosts natural collagen production and replenishes natural moisture barrier so lips stay soft and hydrated. Best of all it is fragrance free.

The Clinique repairwear intensive lip treatment is very simple to use, you only need to apply it twice a day. Once in the morning before applying your lipcolor and the second time in the evening. I’d like to keep this on my nightstand so I can use it before I go to sleep. I've been using the lip treatment for about 2 weeks now, using it every morning and evening and I must say, you can really see the difference! My lips are soft, plumped and non-flakey, exactly how I want them to be, and it will stay on for hours. One little negative point is that, when you use it in the morning and you put on your normal lipstick this can be a little bit to greasy. But it all depends on how rich you apply the treatment. The Clinique repairwear intensive lip treatment isn't a cheap product but it works so well that I’m a 100% I’ll repurchase it again.

Do you think this is an interesting product? Would you buy it?

First of all I've orderd the GLAMGLOW - GIFT SEXY (49.90€).
I've never tried a Glamglow mask before, but EVERYBODY is talking about it. So as soon as I receive the package I'm trying this one. At the moment my skin is in a good condition, but it can always be better....
The Glamglow - Gift Sexy is a limited (holiday) edition for Sephora and it contains:

My hair is very fine and I don't have a lot of hair, so let's hope this will give me that extra "oumph" I've been looking for!
What is it? A translucent dry spray that instant fullness and texture creates.
For who? All hairtypes, especially fine.

Next I stocked up on some Bobbi Brown make up that I needed. I just love Bobbi's make up!
